Nicos Larkos Appointed Vice-Chair of the CBE JU Working Group on Primary Producers
AgroTech Innovations is proud to announce that our CEO, Nicos Larkos, has been appointed Vice-Chair of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) Working Group on Primary Producers. This three-year initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening the role of farmers, foresters, fishers, and aquaculture producers in Europe’s circular bioeconomy.
The appointment reflects both AgroTech Innovations’ long-standing commitment to sustainable agri-food systems and Nicos Larkos’s active engagement in shaping bioeconomy policy and innovation at national and European level. Nicos Larkos is also a founding member of the Greek Bioeconomy Council (GBC / ΕΣΥΒ), further reinforcing the connection between local expertise and European policy-making.
Strengthening the Voice of Primary Producers in the Circular Bioeconomy
Primary producers are at the heart of the bioeconomy transition. Yet, their perspectives, needs, and constraints are often underrepresented in innovation and policy discussions. The CBE JU Working Group on Primary Producers was established to address this gap by ensuring that those who manage natural resources are not only participants, but co-creators of circular bio-based systems.
The Working Group will focus on:
- identifying barriers and opportunities for primary producers in the circular bioeconomy,
- proposing actionable, practical solutions that enhance sustainability and resilience,
- supporting the development of competitive, inclusive bio-based value chains across Europe.

A Strategic Role for South-East Europe
As Vice-Chair for the agricultural sector in South-East Europe, Nicos Larkos will lead the preparation of an Action Plan reflecting the specific needs, priorities, and realities of primary producers in the region. This plan will aim to ensure that farmers and other producers can meaningfully benefit from circular bio-based opportunities economically, socially, and environmentally.
The role brings a strong regional perspective to a European platform, highlighting the importance of:
- local knowledge and capacity building,
- tailored innovation pathways,
- fair access to resources, funding, and markets,
- and effective knowledge transfer from research to practice.
Aligned With the Mission of AgroTech Innovations
This appointment is closely aligned with the mission of AgroTech Innovations to support innovation adoption, strengthen capacity, and connect primary producers with emerging bio-based solutions that create real value on the ground.
At AgroTech Innovations, we believe that the circular bioeconomy can only succeed if it works with and for primary producers. By actively contributing to this Working Group, we aim to help bridge policy, innovation, and practice—turning strategic objectives into tangible impact for farming and rural communities.

Looking Ahead
Through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and action-oriented planning, this initiative has the potential to shape a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable bio-based future for Europe.
